In 1986, David and Lucy Marvin purchased a small building in the bucolic Village of Johnson. With a desire to open doors in time for the autumn rush, they thoughtfully and quickly transformed the former schoolhouse, garage and blacksmith shop into Marvin’s Country Store.

In 2015, a major renovation was completed. With a new foundation under the portion of the store that was formerly the old firehouse, the two buildings were officially connected and the entire space was made level. As a result, the main level of the store is completely handicap accessible.

The appearance of the store may have changed over the years, but the shop has consistently focused on all things maple. You can browse a robust selection of Butternut Mountain Farm maple syrups and sugar, as well as delectable items that use our maple syrup and sugar as an ingredient. Vermont specialties like cheese, honey, jams and local artisan gifts fill out the shelves. The store continues to sell maple sugaring supplies and equipment to local maple producers.
