Maple Butter Dates with Chocolate

Maple Butter Date

Maple Butter is a creamy, delicious form of maple. Despite it’s ‘butter’ title, this jar of goodness is absent of dairy. Maple Butter is, in fact, a pure maple product. This means that the only ingredient you’ll find listed is maple syrup.

Maple Butter is made by stirring 100% pure maple syrup to a creamy consistency. You might also have heard it called maple cream. Because it’s made from pure maple syrup, you might pick up a jar and find maple syrup sitting at the top. It’s natural for it to separate. Simply stir to restore the consistency!

You can enjoy Maple Butter many ways: in between stacks of pancakes, by the spoonful, smeared across slices of apples. And in this case, to fill the center of a pitted date!

This snack is perfect for when you’re you need something rich to satiate your sweet tooth. Not a must-follow-to-a-T recipe, you have creative liberty to add as much as you see fit – or that fits in the center of a date. Then cover in chocolate and pop in the fridge to set. Once you bite in, the butter won’t spill out but will hold its creamy consistency.

Cook time

  • 9-12 medjool dates, pitted
  • Maple Butter
  • 1 cup 60% bittersweet chocolate chips
  • ½ teaspoon coconut oil
  • Flakey sea salt

  1. Using a spoon, dollop maple butter into the center of the pitted dates. This can be a bit messy, but that’s okay! Try your best to keep the maple butter as contained as possible. Place the dates on a parchment paper lined plate and place in fridge for 10 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, melt the chocolate and coconut oil together. You can do this in the microwave or by melting in a double broiler.
  3. Remove the dates from the fridge. Spear a toothpick through the dates. Dip the dates in the chocolate, using a spoon to cover the top of the dates. Dip the dates in chocolate one at a time. Place back on the parchment paper lined plate. Once all dates have been covered, sprinkle with flakey sea salt and place the plate back in the fridge. Let the dates chill for at least 1 hour, or until the chocolate is firm and the maple butter center is set. (The maple butter will still be a bit runny, but not oozing!)

Enjoy as a snack or dessert!
