2024 Sugaring Tap

Sugaring is in the air! The 2024 sugaring season at Butternut Mountain Farm has begun and has kept our sugaring crew busy in the woods and at the sugarhouse.

We concluded tapping on February 1st, the earliest finish in recent memory. Warm weather throughout the month has brought sap runs. To prepare for the harvesting of sap, our crew has been promptly tackling projects.

With true spring temperatures warming the sugarbush in late February we had an abundant sap run February 27th, through the night and throughout February 28th. On days with significant sap harvest, sugaring equipment runs day and night. the Reverse Osmosis gets started early and the evaporator runs until all the concentrate sap has been boiled.

The forecast continues to look promising for sugaring in the weeks ahead. We are grateful for the dedication and work of our crew! Stay tuned for upcoming updates as the 2024 sugaring season progresses.
