You’ll have to wait a few hours to enjoy a cup of this panna cotta but it comes together so easily that it’s worth the wait. The smooth bite paired with the brightness of cherries tossed in lemon juice and the delightful richness of maple syrup makes each spoonful a stunning showcase of texture and flavor. Enjoy a cup for dessert or sneak one in for a second breakfast.

  • 1 cup whole milk, divided​
  • 1 packet unflavored gelatin (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)​
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream​
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup, plus more for serving​
  • 1/2 cup cherries, pitted​
  • Squeeze of fresh lemon juice​
  • Sprinkle of maple sugar and cinnamon​


  1. Add 1/2 cup of whole milk to a large bowl and sprinkle the gelatin over it. Do not stir.
  2. Combine the remaining milk, heavy cream, maple syrup and vanilla extract to a saucepan and stir together until the mixture is hot but not boiling. Pour the mixture over the bloomed gelatin and stir together.
  3. Pour into 4-6 ramekins or cups, filling half way. Chill for 4-6 hours until set.
  4. Mix cherries with lemon juice, cinnamon and maple sugar. Spoon the fruit over, pour a little extra maple on top of the panna cotta and enjoy!
