INGREDIENTS

  • 8 large portobello mushroom caps​
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced​
  • 2 tablespoons Grade A Dark Robust Maple Syrup​
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce​
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar​
  • 3/4 cups bread crumbs​
  • 1 egg​
  • 1/4 teaspoon chipotle pepper powder​

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Steam portobello mushrooms for about 7 minutes or until tender.
  2. Place cooked mushrooms, garlic, maple syrup, soy sauce, vinegar, egg, bread crumbs and pepper in a food processor and pulse until mixture is combined, about 30 seconds.
  3. Divide mixture into 4 to 6 patties by taking a half cup measuring cup and scooping the mixture on a plate covered with parchment paper.
  4. Shape the scoops into patties using a spoon or hands then refrigerate for at least 20 minutes.
  5. Cook the burgers in olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat – approximately 6 minutes per side.
